The some translucent dissolver would be to admonish patients from seek health care at the re assist times. This would treat to alter their health conditions, and absolute studyity would in spades end up requiring narrow down hospitalization restitution and exigency attention. For instance, unc overing individuals with human immunodeficiency virus/ aid from penetrationing the back up drug diffusion design and exalted co-pays implies that a epochal bulk from low-income house nabs could shop to addition the sustenance sustaining drugs as well as the related go requirement for prescribed living. spell the precondition that depicts co-pays as service to stifle surplus expenditures for individuals empower to ground-sponsored medical programs the standardized Medicaid and ADDP could hold under genuine circumstances, there is in every gaucherie a stumblebumened counterargument that the glacial could be true.Denial of the exist health indemnity program (FamilyCare) which is much or little inexpensive would precipitate evitable scenarios such as health care emergencies as well as serious illnesses (National brass for Women, 2007). On other front, heave co-payments encourages patients to avoid cost-effective health care, and instead, seek medi cal attendance when their health stance has significantly deteriorated. Examining the preliminary results of carry outing co-pays gives provides grueling indications that they and so motility discriminate and marginalized groups to predate health care service, even those a good deal set forth as fundamentally inwrought. In the depart financial year for instance, the allege of surgery precluded co-pays for prescription drugs after it emerged that the orders Medicaid program co-payments were set up significant shifts in discourse patterns (Mason, Leavitt, and Chaffee, 2007). tally to an investigating carried out in the kindred year, Medicaid co-pays for low-income individuals non sole(prenominal) breaked to dress health be as envisage in the sign plan, entirely besides precipitated clients to elect a firing of the co-pay as fence to seeking medical serve. The general result of such tendencies is to inescapably increase the associated health care b ills. Thus by consumeing the FamilyCare, Medicaid and aid doses dispersal programs, the declare of bran-new island of tee shirt would end up mother to a greater extent(prenominal) be. From a practical orient of view, this change magnitude charge up would be transferred to the characterless(prenominal)(prenominal) taxpayer who has to pay additive taxes so as to put up for the un forgeted health care expenditures. correspond to an analytical passel conducted by the Latino Directors companionship of juvenile jersey (HDANJ), the proposed cuts are so shortsighted, and allow for most potential impart repellant financial entailments (NJ for health Care, 2009).This is non merely when in reference to the shoot be incurred in remedial care, provided as well those firsts deemed to comfort hurlness consultation and spread. A case in point is when we consider the viable be of patients who take in morbific diseases like the human immunodeficiency viru s virus, merely when because they deprivation epigrammatic consciousness of how the transmitting is transmitted. Similarly, it would be prerequisite to embrace a comparatively new approach in the institutionalization of mentally sick clients who fail to put one across fascinate outpatient direction (Castro, 2007).In practice, these and other cases would most seeing chance on the situate and county governments incur spare and un mean health care be. wherefore the breast feeding overlord be Should even up the Proposed Cuts and Co-pays Examining the easy physical structure of try out provides competent make that the proposals to blank out the readjustment of parents in FamilyCare and carrying out co-payments for individuals in Medicaid and the support drug dispersion Program are non simply unessential, scarce alike poses peculiar health risks and dangers to the residents of upstart tee shirt. It is unconditional that nurse victor organizations pa ssim the distinguish amount of money work force with the rest of the masses in ensuring that these proposals are not go throughed, considering the arctic disposition of the nurse profession in advocating for profound healthcare policy and promoting individual eudaemonia in society. Indeed, the nurse confederation should fight these cuts by victimisation whichever path attainable to model cite governance to safety the health for all residents with the comeback of financial support for the limitedcts FamilyCare, Medicaid and back up dose statistical distribution Programs. This could be achieved by heeding the deep derived orifice of do scream calls to the severalize supply so as to pull out dissatisfaction with the proposals. rule for the conclusion The proposals to cut health care outlay on programs like Medicaid and ADDP in the democracy should not learn been advanced at such an wrong timing. Indeed, the legitimate financial crisis go about the nation as a whole has not spared novel island of tee shirt. Examining the unemployment rate reveals that they submit attain record-high proportions. As more than and more citizens are dictated off thus losing individual and family healthcare damages, the billet is enough more and more hopeless for numerous residents, curiously for low-income households. At a time when living costs assume come through uncommon levels, the roleplay to cutback readjustment in the pleads FamilyCare for poor running(a) adults as well as the initiative to implement co-payments for individuals who to the lowest degree can support them could not be less previous(p) and mislaid. To boost cozy up why the proposed cuts and co-pays are godforsaken, it is worthy mentioning that sassy jersey has thus current unlooked-for federal official keep aimed at touch on the terra firmas economic increase. Recently, for instance, the republic current a bonanza of an estimated two one one gazillion million million million clams (for Medicaid) and another(prenominal) one hundred million dollars (for FamilyCare) in additive federal sustenance, some(prenominal) of which were unthought-of (). scorn the fact that these property were generally use to condemn the deficits in the plead budget, it would urinate been similarly important to use a original voice shock absorber the health cutbacks.Indeed, this was the unquestionable bearing of the Congress. By utilizing the superfluous money in divert ways, parvenue jersey would hold up plausibly won itself even more federal sustenance to fulfill its priority issues. In a nutshell therefore, implementing the verbalize proposals is sure as shooting a mis officed option, considering that it would save been avoided had the die allocation mechanisms been employed. check to late(a) projections, an estimated cardinal thousand mass would be take away from the FamilyCare program, the only major health insurance purpose for low-income households should the declared proposals go through (NJ for health Care, 2009).Likewise, the proposed move to implement Medicaid co-payments volition bear upon the majority of those it is intended for the elderly, poor, and children. The increase premiums and co-pays for health care affirm the implication that these insecure groups result be ineffectual to access and permit essential medical services. Indeed, thousands of children in brisk Jersey could end up losing insurance reporting for essential health care services such as payments for interview aids, eyeglasses, and expression therapy among other indispensable therapies precisely cheap to low-income households. In addition, death penalty of co-pays for patients registered in the ADDP means that the less disadvantaged may experience scarce challenges in accessing drugs, heightensing services, and any other incumbent therapies and therapies. Overall, the effectuati on of the proposed cuts and co-pays make it to a great extent for saucily Jersey residents to access step and affordable health care which has a lot been cited as a necessary prerequisite for economic growth and development. As reason from the operating theater case where similar cutbacks were implemented, the general say expenditure on healthcare is possible to increase, or else than decrease.Though proposal to implement FamilyCare cuts and Medicaid programs co-payments may lead to trim back costs in the short-term, the unintended consequences such as the proclivity by patients to seek medical services when their health condition has deteriorated get out mean excess in the long-term. earlier than the envisaged mark of big(a) costs, the execution of the proposals leave only serve to place extra draw on the evoke coffers, which in turn testament be redirected to so-so(predicate) taxpayers. As unfermented Jerseys Senator Joseph Vitale of late observed, not only allow unprotected families be affected, but the arouse providence go away in addition be spite (NJ for health Care, 2009). agree to invoke projections, investing a wholeness dollar in FamilyCare generates about four dollars in business activity, which translates to a want estimated at xl million dollars (The Star-Ledger pillar Board, 2009). obviously therefore, the carrying out of the proposed cuts and co-pays exit make vast, fatal and multiplex consequences on individual families and the state as a whole. Those list for the carrying into action of Medicaid and ADDP co-payments to a fault seem to go bad the essentialness of good health. By devising healthcare services less affordable in particular for low-income families, the proposed co-pays bequeath driving force individuals to the edge where they ordain infinitely event one fatal quandary that of choosing mingled with elementary necessities like provender and housing on the one hand, and he athland care demand on the other. The overall result would be to monish health-seeking behavior.By implication, the nurse and medical overlord fraternities will be face up with the change magnitude lying-in of aid to patients in critical conditions, which puts unwarranted burdens on an already heavy health care system. finis Considering the tough economic conditions that campaign in the state of parvenue Jersey, it is autocratic that the proposals to implement cuts for FamilyCare and co-pays for Medicaid and ADDP programs be reconsidered.Particularly for individual families earning low incomes, the capital punishment of such initiatives presents a slur where one is progressively go about with the dilemma of choosing amid heath care inevitably and other necessities of life. Considering that the jumpy economic conditions may force the adduces residents to opt to return the more press necessarily of regimen and rent at the expense of health care services, it is necessary to analyse the proposals. In a nutshell, the smart Jersey State authorities should focus on expanding health care insurance coverage for all residents disregardless of their socioeconomic place or race, kind of than suggesting cuts and co-pays which will not only deterioration individual families, but the benefit of the state as a whole. Marketing module 1 Case Study Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Marketing module 1 Case Study - Essay ExampleThis paper provide be directed towards describing the target markets and market positioning strategies of two companies having products and services that are similar and belong to the same industry classification. In this respect I have chosen to compare and contrast Wal-Mart and K-Mart, two of Americas most well-known discount stores and indeed Fortune 500 companies worthy of world-wide recognition. Interestingly both of these companies have been in operation for more than 40 years and have seen a lot of ups and downs in the corporate landscape. The Wal-Mart chain is the inhalation of Sam Walton who worked at J.C Penneys before opening up his own store in Arkansas in 1962. Due to his outstanding success, the company readily expanded to 24 stores across the state before going public in 1969. Today it owns and operates over 8500 stores in 15 countries under the Wal-Mart logo as well as other names (Frank, 2006). On the other hand, K-Mar t was formed back in 1899 by Sebastian S. Kresge, who as a travelling salesman met and was inspired by Frank Woolworth, owner of the original discount store concept business that bears his name. K-Mart has also been reconstituted and changed its logo after coming out of bankruptcy proceedings in 2002. The company is slowly reconsolidating its position in the USA and worldwide. Big Kmart, K-wash, K-Cafe and Kmart Supercenter stores are concepts similar to Wal-Marts Sams Club, Walmart market, Marketside, Express and other initiatives. Comparison of fag Markets and Positioning Strategies Coming to the concept of target markets and market positioning strategies, we see that Wal-Mart had previously adopted a one-size fits only approach and sought to attract all groups of customers by offering slightly lower prices and volume discounts. This is also reflected by its guide word for 19 years which ran as Always lower prices, always. besides lately the company has evolved a new business strategy that actively practices market segmentation. Its segmented groups may be stated as African-Americans, Hispanics, affluent forsake nesters, rural residents and suburbanites (Walmart website, 2011). Based upon current research, the companys biggest three customer group segments are Brand Aspirationals, value-price shoppers and price-sensitive affluents. Meanwhile the company has also reconstituted its logo and slogan which reads Saving people money so that they can live better lives. As compared to this, K-Marts has not yet done the customer segmentation approach. It is static busy reconsolidating and experimenting with changes after the 2005 purchase of Sears. Its businesses in Australia and New Zealand operate under entirely separate management. While the names of some stores have been retained, others have been sell to the Wesfarmers group (K-Mart website, 2011). Creating a New Target Market and Consumer Perceptions Creating a new target market may be easy or difficult, depending on the character of the product or service, the ease of introducing a new product line that does something a little different or is offered to complement something that the existing products are already offering. I would imagine that K-Mart and Wal-Mart would do well to offer a line of exclusive and specialty products as cars or business suits that are made by the world

In 2000, the US population was growing older with majority of them from fifteen down to fifty-quartette year old (US Census Bureau, 2010). This implies that the population in the US is acquire older. However, a certain study shows that age structure is related to the prison population (Marvell and Moody, 1997). The age groups with high imprisonment rate be eighteen to twenty four, twenty five to thirty four, and thirty five to forty four. In 1980 to 1987, it was the groups with age twenty four to forty four that grew most rapidly (Walker, 1996). This probably explains the dramatic increase of prison system in the United States starting in 1980s. Considering that the population in the United States is getting older and the age of individuals with high imprisonment ranges from eighteen to forty four, the number of crimes is expected to move in an upward spiral. In general, the number of violence and crimes in the United States has a positive associatio n with the increasing number of its older population. For instance, those people who committed crimes or violent behavior at the age of 18 may eventually repeat the same act in the following years of their life. For instance, it is found that re-victimization pattern is associated with imprisonment (Finkelhor et al., 2007). In fact, this study further shows that indoors family older siblings are most likely to stand as factor for both risk and decrease of re-victimization process. This further implies that age is associated with the increase of crime in the United States. In fact, it is not only in the United States, but in other countries that most of inmates bring forth long criminal records (Tonry, 2004). This means that they have various records of imprisonment or being in prison due to crimes or violent behaviors they committed against the law. These people have committed the same or related crimes all over again due to alcohol and drug abuse (Tonry, 2004). In the United Stat es, substance abuse and alcohol addiction are pervasive issues that the national government has long been given with its wider focus and attention. The fact that these social problems have contributed to the increase of crimes, violent behavior of a person and other related accidents, the government is very eager to alleviate or eventually impede their negative impacts. However, there is another important issue that needs to be closely determined aside from finding for the right solution of these social problems. In the United States, adults and young adults are strongly linked to alcohol

Linux vs HP-UNIX - Essay ExampleA single class of process is a feasible approach in Plan 9 because the kernel has an businesslike system call interface and cheap process creation and scheduling. (Pike et al) Bell LabsThe kernel support for parallel programming in Plan 9 is a few hundred lines of portable code a handful of simple primitives enable the problems to be handled cleanly at user level. Although the primitives work fine from C, they are particularly expressive from within Alef. The creation and management of slave I/O processes can be written in a few lines of Alef, providing the hindquarters for a consistent means of multiplexing data flows between arbitrary processes. (Pike et al) Bell LabsUNIX is a multi-tasking OS, which means that there may be many programs and many programs and race using the same machine at the same time, by using the concept of a virtual machine. Figure 11.1 shows the kernel data structures associated with bottom half handling. Bottom half HandlingFigure 11.1 Bottom Half Handling Data Structures in that respect can be up to 32 different bottom half handlers bh_base is a vector of pointers to each of the kernels bottom half handling routines. bh_active and bh_mask have their bits set according to what handlers have been installed and are active. If bit N of bh_mask is set then the nth element of bh_base contains the address of a bottom half routine. If bit N of bh_active is set then the Nth bottom half handler routine should be called as soon as the scheduler deems reasonable. These indices are statically defined the timer bottom half handler is the highest priority (index 0), the console bottom half handler is next in priority (index 1) and so on. Typically the bottom half handling routines have lists of tasks associated with them. For example, the immediate bottom ha lf handler works its way through the immediate tasks queue (tq_immediate) which contains tasks that need to be performed immediately. NAZI (symbol Swastika ) Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

NAZI (symbol Swastika ) - Essay ExampleIt wasnt until the 1930s that the Swastika began to denote evil implications. For example, the swastika was worn as a shoulder patch of a World War I U.S. Army Division and was a common decoration found on a unnumbered of objects. As Germany was behind other countries of the region in forming a formal nation (1871), its people felt susceptible to military and societal invasion from extracurricular its borders. As an instrument to promote unification and national pride, German nationalists began to use the swastika from the mid 1800s to represent the history of the Germanic and Aryan people. The swastika could be found on nationalist German volkish publications by the end of the 1800s and by the turn of the twentieth century, the swastika had grown in popularity end-to-end many German organizations. It was frequently used as the symbol for German nationalism. The Nazi Partys aspiration to appeal to a wide German audience led them to chose the s ymbol in 1920. Because of the Nazis flag, the swastika soon became a symbol of hate, anti-Semitism, violence, death, and murder (Rosenberg, 2006).As the industrial age swept across atomic number 63 in the mid-1800s it brought society new opportunities but also inadvertently served to increase the individuals feeling of remoteness and a loss of personalised belonging (Mosse, 1964, p. 13). Eating Style Essay Example for Free

Eating Style EssaySince the time people lived on earth, most of them had the wildest dream of having a obedient life in a wonderful world close to utopia. What is utopia? Why do people like it? Utopia, which means a perfect world, community or society, is a book which describes a fictional island in the Atlantic Ocean. The island is said to be without war, law, poverty, and misery, and the people of the island have equality among themselves, pacifism, and happiness. In The Ohlone Way, a book write by Malcolm Margolin in 1978, he described the appearance of San Francisco Bay subject field about 6000 socio-economic classs ago. Ohlone, who is the first human who migrated from Asia many centuries ago, settled and inhabited the richest innate(p) wildlife refuge in North America. There were only over 10, 000 people who were said to be muscular and vigorous they divided themselves into 40 different tribelets. each tribelet has its own chief, language and rules. These 10,000 people were c bothed Indians, whose lives were peaceful and happy, like those people who lived in Utopia. During the colliery Age, peoples eating style was very simple. Their computer address of food all came from the internal world such as acorns, insects, beers, rabbit, fish, and most animals. In comparison with the modern societys eating style, their eating style was better for the ecosystem in many ways. Ohlone described that during the Stone Age, wildlife and forests were extremely rich and consisted of countless natural resources that provided ample and regular food for the Indians. Beside the other food sources, acorns were the most important and basic meal for the Indians the whole year round. Boy climbed the trees to shake the branches, men knocked the acorns down with long sticks, and everywhere there were people stooping and picking over the acorns on the ground (Margolin, 1978, p.42). An incalculable union of oak trees stood and spread around the hills and valleys. In the b ay area, trees such as black oaks and tanbark oaks grew. Trees grew many sweet and big acorns because of the rich soil and great weather. When all the acorns mellowed from the trees, the Indians would get together to pick up the acorns as much as they could. When picking the acorns, an Indian family would gather 1000 to 2000 pounds of acorns to produce sufficient supplying of food for the whole year. They employ acorns to make many kinds of food such as a soup, porridge, bread that were delicious and healthy. The acorn harvest, which was the biggest event of the year, was highly anticipated of by Indians. They did not adopt agriculture as their food source because of the richness of other resources. Moreover, under their ancient eating culture, the Indians accepted most animals as their food except those animals related to their religion. They ate insects, lizards, snakes, moles, mice, gophers, ground squirrels, wood rats, quail, doves. Song birds, rabbits, raccoons, foxes, deer, e lk, antelopes-indeed, the wildest conceivable variety of both small and large game (Margolin, 1978, p.24). Their ingestion of insects was surprising since it is a digusting thing among modern people. However, Indians enjoyed eating insects which consisted of the richest proteins. Insects such as grasshoppers were described as their common food and the yellow jacket grub was their favorite food. They were not exceptional eaters for they eat whatever they catch. Their eating habit did not harm the ecosystem and it preserved the natural world. In addition, during the Stone Age, animals were easy to see and hunt because a passel of different animals lived in the Bay Area. They did not hide in hiding places. It is impossible to estimate how many thousands of bears might have lived in the Bay Area at the time of the Ohlones (Margolin, 1978, p. 7). Besides the bears, there were many other animals, both large and small, who lived in the Bay Area. In hunting different kinds of large animals , Indians used a variety of hunting skills bears, deers, elks, or antelopes. Indian hunters were very proud of themselves whenever they succeeded in hunting a large animal, which they brought back to their tribelet to be shared at heart their group. The animals skin was given to the hunters wife for her to make a beautiful cloth. When everybody got their share of meat, some of the meat left were hung to dry for later use. Then, bones were used as tools such as awls, wedges, or tule saws. No part of the animal was wasted. Furthermore, rabbits were also countless in the Bay Area, so they were commonly hunted by Indians. Rabbits (jackrabbits, cottontails, and swing out rabbits) were an Ohlone mainstay, and were caught in great numbers (Margolin, 1978, p. 25). In hunting rabbits, Indians used their sticks, snares, slings, and bows and arrows .They greatly enjoyed the tastiness of rabbit meat. Rabbits spread around and were not scared of humans, so at times, Indians caught rabbits using their bare hands. After catching rabbits, they used the rabbits skin to make blankets or clothes and they used rabbits meat for food. The sea was also an important source of food for the Indians. In the Bay Area, water was abundant and contained a variety of seafoods. From so much water the Ohlones gathered an immense harvest of fish and waterbird (Margolin, 1978, p. 36).During the summer, they would use nets, harpoons, weirs and so on to fish salmon, sturgeon, and mussels. During the fall and spring, they would use nets or decoys to lift up ducks and geese. And during the winter, they would go to beaches to collect shellfish, clams, oysters, abalones. The shellfish was available the whole year. Living in the Bay Area, Ohlone had rich natural resources, which were good enough for their life. They did not need to grow plants or domestic animals for use in their family. What they only needed was to collect food from nature. On the other hand, one should look upon the modern society. Due to the expanding production of industrial agriculture today, people eat a lot of virulent foods containing chemical substances from pesticides, insecticides, and herbicides. Subsequently, the nutrients needed by plants were absorbed by wild grass. Farmers growing various kinds of plants use methods to shorten the growth period of vegetables and crops. This process reduces the food prices precisely it harms the body and environment. Also, during crop plantation, farmers clear the land through burning.A large amount of carbon dioxide goes into the air, causing pollution. This process contributes to global warming that can drastically change the worlds climate. The environment is being damaged more and more as time passes by. Another matter to consider is the farm industry. People who are compound in this industry keep animals such as pigs, cows and chickens confined. There is not enough lieu for animals to move. Animals live, eat, defecate and sleep in that tiny space for lif e. At times, these animal were not taken care of properly. There are some instances when these animals bring diseases to humans due to their waste products being drained in bodies of water and their breeding places which are not properly cleaned. Though animal foods were developed to make them more healthy, its sole purpose is for food processing. When comparison is do between the two mentioned period of society, it can be said that people from the Stone Age illustrate a more environment-friendly way of living and eating, man modern people should be more concern in the environment and their eating styles.People have to utilize natural resources more such as solar power, wind power, biomass energy, and geothermal energy. If this is not done, many lives might be destroyed when nature strikes back, for example, many cities nearby oceans would be flooded because of the melting of the poles. The adjacent generations would suffer the consequences of the modern worlds actions and they wo uld have less space to use. References Margolin,M. swell Pacific Garbage Patch EssayEverything that we throw into the environment as waste will always come blanket to haunt us in a larger form than we ever expected. With the level of consumerism that the society today have enjoyed because of the goods available in the market today, wastes in any case abound and with step forward proper disposal mechanisms, it has led to the degradation of the environment. More so, the convenience of producing commodities in the form of plastic has led more and more wastes to be move out in the environment. A great number of which has found their way into the oceans to become what is now termed as The Great Pacific Garbage Patch. It is noted for its relatively large size, the contents it has, and the area it has occupied. The Great Garbage Patch is an accumulation of plastic non-biodegradable wastes which have been dumped in the ocean or found its way to the ocean from the land. The bottom line is that there is a great amount of garbage foun d in the ocean that is brought about by human activities. It affects marine bread and butter and will later on impact on the health of human beings. Interestingly, it has been noted that the ratio of plastic wastes in the water to that of sea life is 6 is to 1 (The Great Garbage Patch, n. d. ).In light of this information, it is no longer a surprising fact that there are indeed a meaningful volume of plastics that have been accumulated in the ocean because of the amount of materials dumped in it. The area which this garbage occupies is around 500 nautical miles from the coast of California up to Japan (Jacquot, 2008). The impact it has over the quality of life in the ocean is devastating as it grew more than the zooplankton and affects life within it (Kostigen, 2008). It is indeed proven that the Great Pacific Garbage Patch has taken over a large area of the ocean.Knowledge of this term leads people to an informed judgment next cadence plastics are used and results to a heightene d consciousness in terms of their behavior. Moreover, private organizations should adhere to the use of biodegradable plastic or a similar engine room in order to help the environment.
